An American Intervention

Folks, our friends are worried about us. And rightly so. This one's so concerned, she finally spoke up, like a real, true friend. I gotta warn you, though -- her insights are pretty painful. It's hard to look right in that mirror she's holding up and see the ugly truth.

While you're at it, you might as well read my post over (to be posted on October 13) at Deep South Moms. I'm really hoping that this financial crisis means that we've hit rock bottom. I'm hoping that America will wake up, admit she has a major problem and finally get the help she needs.

I'm hoping that help will come on November 4th in the form of a new leader. Everyone, we need a NEW leader -- like one we've never had before. We need a leader with a cool, steady hand -- one that has the courage to stand up for what's right and what's possible. One that believes in transparency in government, in the health and well-being of its citizens and families, and still holds us accountable for doing our part. We can't afford a hot-head that spews hate and lies and reaches back to the "good old days" for inspiration. That's not what will bring our country together or regain the trust of our friends and allies.

We need to move forward. Let's put this whole ugly episode of the past 8 years behind us.
